In an effort to eat healthier we have a number healthy snack options in our home. One of the most recent purchases was a box of Odwalla Chewy Nut Bar: Sweet and Salty Almond. The packaging looks intriguing from the orange colors and the image of the bar and ingredients. It makes eating healthy look fun.
First Impressions. The packaging promises the bars to be filled with crunchy almonds and hearty oats. There is also crispy rice in each serving. It didn't take long for me to try the nut bar. Each one is 1.6 ounces.
The first thing I noticed was that the nut bar had a glazed, shiny appearance almost as if it was too pretty to eat. I took a bite out of the Odwalla chewy nut bar.
Ingredients. My second impression was that this snack was loaded with almonds and oats. I could taste dry roasted almonds and the organic oats. This is perfect for people that like nutty snacks. It was well balanced between sweet and salty only being a little of both. Other ingredients in each serving was brown rice syrup, organic evaporated cane juice syrup and organic soy nuts.
The best thing about the Odwalla Chewy Nut Bar: Sweet and Salty Almond is the texture of the snack. It's a nice alternative to granola bars. It adds variety to your snacking options.
Nutrition. The Odwalla Chewy Nut Bar: Sweet and Salty Almond has 220 calories, 11 grams of fat, 65 mg of sodium. Each serving also has 22 grams of carbohydrates, 210 mg of potassium and 7 grams of protein. There are no refined sugars.
If you're looking for a snack that will provide you vitamins, the Odwalla Chewy Nut Bar: Sweet and Salty Almond has the 10 percent daily value of vitamin A, 10 percent the daily value of vitamin C, 25 percent the daily value of calcium and 20 percent the daily value of vitamin E.
Verdict. I would recommend anyone try the Odwalla Chewy Nut Bar: Sweet and Salty Almond for breakfast, lunch or as a snack during the day. Put them in a child's lunch to provide them with a more nutritious snacking option.
