When an opportunity arises to spend time with the kids outside the home, I leap on it. That opportunity shone this weekend. I planned to take our family up to Oklahoma City this weekend to go to the Oklahoma City Science Center and Omnidome. We were all excited about going. Two years prior I had gone to the Science Center with my step daughter for a class field trip. We all had a blast. There were plenty of exhibits to look at, reptiles, crazy rooms and an awesome jet air plane show that was playing in the Omnidome.
Well seeing as my past experience going to the Science center 2 years ago was excellent; I bragged to the family how fun it would be. The kids were all rearing to go and the husband excited as well. We set off for our destination and the excitement was about to burst as we drew near the Science Center.
We entered the Science building and stood in a short line. The cost for the four of us, two adults and two children was about $46.00 to be able to see the exhibits, Omnidome, and Planetarium.
My step daughter and I began looking for all the neat exhibits we remembered but could not find any of them. Disappointed we went to see our Omnidome movie. The movie that was playing was called Hurricane on the Bayou. This movie was long and did not show very much about the hurricane itself but only about the damage it caused after. The movie did not impress us very much. It was disappointing as well.
After we saw the Omnidome we had only 15 minutes till the Planetarium show was to start. Since it wasn't long we chose to stand in line. After waiting in line we entered the small room. When the show started, I thought it was some kind of joke. It seemed like they hadn't updated their equipment or show since the late 70's. Plus several ladies had brought their babies who screamed through the whole show which lasted a little over 35 minutes. My husband was so bored with it that he actually fell asleep until they turned the lights back on.
Bored to death and frustrated we prowled around looking at all the different exhibits which didn't take us long considering more than half of them weren't even there. The building was big, but full of empty space. They even took out the only food court they had and the second gift shop.
I was very dissatisfied with the whole thing. I know that I will never again waste my money on such nonsense. Their website shows pictures of stuff they don't even have anymore. I definitely do not recommend taking your children to this science center if you're expecting it to be like it was a few years back. It has definitely changed.

Post a CommentJust go right next door to the OKC Zoo. Its cheaper and better for the kids!
yeah that place does stink now. ever since they changed the name. the people that work there are rude, the food stinks, and its way to expensive. i thought they were going to shut down a couple years ago, too bad they didnt. they could have sold the building to someone who could have made a more fun place to go.
Nah, it wasn't as good as I remembered it. Thought the movie was pretty lame. There sisn't seem to be as much stuff.
