Review: Olive Green Dog Pizza Pies and Nutty 'Nanners Dog Treats
Doggie Pizzas and Peanut Butter Banana Cookies
Olive Green Dog Treats
OliveGreenDog.com features eco-friendly supplies, treats and foods for cat and dogs. The website also offers a variety of natural, organic dog treats that are free of wheat, corn and soy products. Handmade in America, these treats do not contain artificial flavors or preservatives. I recently purchased the pizza cookies and peanut butter and banana cookies.
My Oh My Pizza Pie Dog Cookies
Made with cheese, tomato sauce and spices, these parmesan cheese pizza cookies have a savory flavor profile and slightly spicy fragrance. The 7-ounce packages I purchased contain approximately 20 cookies each. Most of the treats are 1½ inches around, but there are a few smaller ones, approximately an inch around, in each bag as well.
Pizza Pie Cookie Ingredients
The pizza pie treats are made from organic whole grain oat, barley and brown rice flours, grated parmesan cheese, powdered cheddar cheese, cage-free organic eggs, canola oil, tomato paste, crushed garlic, organic oregano & parsley leaves, organic flax meal and vitamin E.
Nutty 'Nanners Dog Cookies
The peanut butter and banana cookies are 1½ by 1½ inch squares and slightly more than ¼ inch thick. They have a subtle peanut butter fragrance and contain visible pieces of peanuts. Each 7-ounce package contains approximately a dozen treats.
Nutty 'Nanners Ingredients
These treats are made of organic whole grain oat & barley flours, roasted unsalted peanuts, dehydrated unsweetened bananas, cage-free organic eggs, canola oil, raw honey, unsulphered molasses, organic powdered ginger & allspice, organic flax meal and vitamin E
Price and Availability
This product line also includes Little Berry Bites and Happy Apple Snaps. OliveGreenDog.com currently charges $8.50 per 7-ounce package. The price varies, but Amazon.com sells three-pack bundles of Olive Green Dog treats.
Room for Improvement
OliveGreenDog.com should list the approximate size of the individual treats for online shoppers. This makes it easier to anticipate if the treat is right for a particular pet or compatible with treat holders, such as Kongs.
Add a manufacture or freshness date to the package.
Final Thoughts
The clear, re-sealable plastic pouch makes it easy to keep the cookies fresh and know when to buy more.
Colorful labels on the front of the bags make it easy to read the ingredient list.
The Olive Green Dog treats are crunchy, but the airy texture is similar to a traditional cookie and these treats easily snap in half.
Both flavors were well received. Although I appreciate the quality of this product, the product price will make these an occasional indulgence instead of a household staple.
