Good points of the Omni Royal Orleans
Location: At 621 St Louis St., the Omni Royal Orleans is just a few blocks or less from all the big attractions, yet it's far enough from Bourbon St. that (at least in our rooms) you didn't hear the ruckus. That's a big advantage if you don't want to party all night (and, traveling with our kids, we did not).
Pool: The Omni Royal Orleans has a nice outdoor heated pool on its roof. There's beverage and food service there.
Staff: Everyone at the Omni Royal Orleans was friendly
Style: This isn't "just another hotel". It's got a bit of big easy.
Bad points of the Omni Royal Orleans
Room size: The "deluxe" rooms at the Omni Royal Orleans were pretty small. One queen size bed, one small desk, one TV cabinet and two small bedtables and very little floor space.
View: In the basic rooms, there's really no view at all
Storage: The closet for hanging clothes was standard, but there was less drawer space than in other hotels of this class. We stayed for 3 nights, and drawers were very full. (And we are not big packers).
Dining room: We only tried it for breakfast. They push a buffet on you, which is not very good and is way over-priced. Eat in one of the roughly 1000000000000 other restaurants in the French Quarter.
Overall
If we visit New Orleans again, I'd certainly consider staying at the Omni Royal Orleans. But I'd pay for a larger room.

Post a CommentSounds nice though. A hotel is just a place to hang some clothes when one is in a fun city like New Orleans, right? BTW, just interviewed their director at the Museum of Art. If you go again, check that place out!
Might end up going to the "Big Easy" on a trip soon...
Sounds like a nice place if you get the larger room.
