The Optimus Terra Weekend HE is a life saving lightweight stove that no hiker or backpacker should be without. The storage case for the Optimus Terra Weekend HE can fit both included pots, the stove, and two six ounce fuel canisters. That makes the Terra Weekend HE take up less space in your backpack, leaving more room for other equipment or allowing you to use a smaller backpack.
I took the Terra Weekend HE with me on a weekend hike through the Adirondack Mountains. Amongst a group of seven other people, three others also had hiking stoves with them.
After hiking for five hours and setting up camp, we decided to make tea. We started all four stoves at the same time on their highest settings and with the same amount of water. The Terra Weekend HE was the first to boil the water, just short of three minutes. The other stoves took between four to six minutes.
Not only did it boil water at an impressive speed, it was more fuel efficient than the three other stoves that were brought with us. I was able to completely fill the included pot and boil water a total of nine times on a single six ounce canister of isobutane fuel. The other three stoves all quickly went through their fuel by their sixth or seventh use.
While I am personally only an intermediate hiker, several of the members in my group have been hiking for years, most notably with a recent three week long trek though the Himalayas. All of the other members in my hiking group were impressed with the Terra Weekend HE, and have decided to upgrade their gear by purchasing one of their own.
Over the past few months I've used the Terra Weekend HE on several other hiking and camping trips. Beyond its superb performance, two of the things that I love about the Terra Weekend HE is that it sets up and dismantles very quickly and is cleaned just as easily. There have been no durability problems to either the stove or the cookware despite a large amount of use.
If you are searching for high quality hiking stove then look no further. Between its lightweight and compact design, speed of use, and fuel efficiency, the Optimus Terra Weekend HE is the ultimate lightweight stove for backpacking. It always finds its way into my pack - even on day trips.
