Review: Orchard Garden Hotel in San Francisco

The Orchard Garden Hotel is San Francisco's green hotel. It was built to the national standards from the U.S. Green Building Council to make the hotel eco-friendly. The hotel is a pretty and modern boutique near the Union Square area of San Francisco. Rooms here cost approximately $220 per night.

The Orchard Garden Hotel is a good choice if you are looking for a hotel in downtown San Francisco near many of the places you would like to visit. It is also a good place for business travelers to stay because it is only a few blocks from the Financial District. Within short walk are the cable cars, Museum of Modern Art, Asian Art Museum, and Chinatown. As mentioned before, it is near Union Square where you will find many popular shops and theaters. Several great dining options are located nearby as well.

Getting to the hotel is easy by public transportation. Take the BART to the Montgomery station and it is about a 10 minute walk. Of course, you could take a taxi instead.

It is also a good place for business travelers to stay because it is only a few blocks from the Financial District. The hotel has complimentary town car service to the Financial District at 7:15 and 8:30am so there is no problem getting there. There is also a meeting space and business center with a couple computers where you can get some work done.

The rooms have wireless internet, LCD TVs and iPod docking stations.

The hotel looks very 'green' as it is decorated in natural wood and green colored fabrics. It also has something called a key card energy control system which means that your room key turns on and off the electricity in your room so it is not being wasted when you are not there. There is an organic restaurant called Roots Restaurant that uses local organic foods to make American and Mediterranean food. The quality of the food is not that great but there are many other restaurants just outside of the hotel where you can get a good meal.

The rooms in the hotel are on the smaller side in comparison to many other hotels but that is understandable since it is in the middle of the city. I would much rather be close to the areas I want to visit than have a large room that I don't plan to spend much time in anyway.
