Review Of The Otterbox 2600 Series Iphone 3g and PDA Case

Christian K. Martinez
Otterbox produces several cases for the iPhone, one of their more interesting if not necessarily well performing cases is the 2600 PDA/Iphone case. The 2600 series case has a kind of high tech Star Trek communicator of some kind. One thing that the 2600 series definitely has going for is that it looks sturdy as the case surrounds your iphone practically suspending it, the screen will even be safe as it is located in a recessed portion of the case, to help it resist scratches. They cost about $50.00 on their website and on amazon.com they cost about $40.00 which is a bit steeper than some of the other iphone cases out there.

Some Miscellaneous Notes and Features of the 2600 Series

Extremely safe for your i-phone, this secure and sturdy casing suspends your i-phone surrounding it in airtight, water proof and crush proof environment.

The case is only waterproof to casual immersion and/or spills it still isn't intended for use underwater.

It's look is something of an acquired taste it has a combination look of geeky/survival based. It's definitely a good heavy duty case for those whom need it however.

It sacrifices one of the iphones great features of sleekness in favor of durability.

It also fits the majority of PDA's on the market; however it only is a fit for 3G Iphones.

You should almost always use this case along with a headset as the case blocks off access both to the headphone jack and the charge port.

The case comes with an unconditional lifetime warranty when purchased from otterbox. This warranty only includes replacement of the case itself.

Comes with four foam pads to help cushion the iphone instead and to allow for adjustable fits, closes and opens via two clamps for easy removal of your device.

Comes with a hand strap adjustable for use with different gloves and other accessories.

The latches are a bit easy to open but the case does have a hole for a lock or tie wrap to keep it from opening accidentally

All around I would say that the 2600 is a competent and very durable case for your iphone or pda, however if you aren't exposing your ipod to frequent danger I would say that the extra precautions are unnescessary (though that is never a bad thing) for some not being able to access headphones or the charge port will be troublesome as well as the bulkiness and all around lack of finesse
