Review: Palmer's Olive Hairdress

My Go-to and Cure-all!

K. F. Lynn
Before I get in to the specifics and details of this product, let me just say that something I am always on the look-out for are products that can be used in more than one way. For me, it makes the purchase all the more satisfying to know that I am really getting my moneys worth. That being said, the Olive Hairdress by Palmer's has become my go-to and cure-all for the past year. I take it everywhere and rave about it to everyone. I think that this is a miracle product and that everyone would be able to get some use out of it, so here I will outline why the Palmer's Olive Hairdress is my best friend on the darkest of beauty days.

The scent. The first thing that I look for in a product targeted specifically for hair is the scent. When you open the container you are immediately met with this soft, powdery, clean smell. This is a major plus - you don't want to put anything in your hair that smells gross and lingers, do you? The clean scent of this product is a great complement for just-washed hair, and can also be a quick-fix pick up if you rub it into your scalp before styling if you are between washes. I give the scent of this stuff a 10 out of 10!

The texture. This product is a solid-to-oil, meaning that at room temperature it remains in a solid, though scrape-able form. Once you put some on your finger and warm it by rubbing it between your hands, it turns into an oil. I personally like this solid-to-oil factor, because it makes it perfect to travel with. The container is huge, much more than the 3 ounces they want you to take in your carry-on bag. However, because it is a solid at room temperature you can toss it in your bag and take it wherever you want, no questions asked! The oil is thin and light, and smooths into my hair nicely. Because I am of a mixed racial background, the texture of my hair is interesting and difficult to say the least, but this spreads nicely and distributes easily through my hair.

The cost. A mere 5 dollars out of your pocket for 250 grams of this stuff. 5 dollars, I kid you not. And I haven't even told you about everything it does yet! Which leads me to...

All the fabulous things you can use it for: All right, I use this stuff quite literally for everything, so allow me to list for you just a few of the ways that I use it every day.

Leave-in conditioner - makes hair super soft and shiny, and you only need to use a little bit at a time so one jar lasts forever.Eye-makeup remover - because of its high olive oil content, this is a shoe-in for traditional makeup removers or Vaseline.

Skin conditioning - great for dry hands and cuticles, and I have even used it on dry knees and elbows. It smells awesome and if you only use a little, will not leave your skin feeling greasy!

As you may have realized, this comes everywhere with me. And for 5 dollars, it is too cheap not to have. I love this product and everyone I have let use mine loves it too! You can pick it up at any Sally Beauty Supply, or even at some CVS and Walgreens chains.

This sounds great...I have natural curl and like to go 'au natural' in the summer.
