Over the years, I have gone from virgin hair, to an Afro during my late teens and college years, to finally wearing chemically-treated hair when beginning to work. My hair has run the gamut, as with most African American females. The thick, coarse hair of the early years was tamed and well-defined with beautiful styles during the first few years after using lye-based relaxers.
With care and proper maintenance, my hair is now more manageable than ever, yet I find at time using the same products tends to reduce the shine and luster, leaving me challenged to find newer products that will make my hair look healthy. I must also work to renew the style and prevent my hair from becoming limp and lifeless.
Keeping up with the many new products and all their claims can be quite costly and discouraging when the results are not what you expect. But then there are those that make claims, and, with a little patience, you find the results can improve the texture and appearance of the hair. This is what I discovered with Pantene for Medium to Thick Hair.
When first answering the questions requested by the Pantene staff of experts, I was a little undone. The questions seemed to be more generic than I expected. You can't always provide a white or black answer. There are some in-betweens that just were not addressed in Pantene's questionnaire. So, I answered as well as possible and waited for the products to arrive. After well over three weeks, the products just appeared at my front door early one Friday morning.
Friday was a good day, because I generally wash and condition my hair on Saturdays in preparation for Sunday and church. Wanting to look my best and feeling that maybe the Pantene would offer what I wanted in a new, fuller hair style, I waited until late afternoon to wash, condition, and then set my hair.
Then Sunday morning came. I removed the curlers from my hair and was surprised at the sheen. My hair looked amazingly healthy until I began to pick through the curls. With African American hair, there are so many different and varying degrees of dryness, the individual wants to gain as much thickness as possible without sacrificing softness. With the first try at using the Pantene Shampoo, Conditioner and Setting Gel, my ends did not look like I desired. They looked and felt way too dry. My style was more of an Afro, which I have not worn since my teen years. Even back then, the results were a soft, manageable and well-defined curly style.
However, considering that maybe I had not used the product as instructed or maybe there was something else I needed to do, I decided to try it a second time. Having waited so long for the product to arrive, and knowing that washing my hair more than once in seven days could cause more of a problem, I had to wait.
Needless to say, I had to work hard at achieving a style I could be happy with that Sunday. So, waiting an additional week to once again try the product and also study the website and other information, I once again tried the samples, using more conditioner the second time around.
Success! With the second shampoo and conditioning effort, I found my hair was softer and more manageable than the first attempt. The curls set in a fashion that was much easier to manipulate into the style I wanted to achieve. My hair looked healthier and had a very beautiful sheen. I received numerous compliments regarding the style and how it even made me look younger. Women my age always enjoy someone telling them they look younger.
So, the new Pantene shampoo, conditioner, hair gel and spray is a definite must-have for African American females with medium to thick hair.
Using the product might not get you the results desired on the first try, but use it more than once to receive maximum benefits. With the second effort resulting in what I consider a beautiful style, a very soft texture and feel, I might just keep Pantene on my list of beauty must-haves.
Check out the new products, take the questionnaire, use the tools provided and you might just achieve results you have never achieved before. Its worth a try. Begin by clicking here for a new Pantene adventure in style and beautiful hair.

Great product review!
Great revie thank you.
Paul, my hair is in great shape. God is good and I give Him all the praise and glory for where I am today. I think, no I know, my hair is in better shape now than when I was in my twenties. In fact, some of my classmates comment very positively on my appeal/appearance today.
I love Pantene, great product review
Love to see you with an Afro, Malina! You're lucky your hair is still in such good shape. Soap and water seems best for my hair - it really does. Shampoo just didn't seem to make it look as good.
Nice review, Malina.
Great review Malina. :)
