Review of Paradiso Mexican Restaurant in Fargo, North Dakota
"Chips Are Free, Dinner Extra--Paradiso."
It was a good thing we had reserved a table, because the parking lot was packed. Our table was ready within minutes, and we quickly were seated. It felt a little bit cramped, since the tables were situated within a couple feet of one another, but we were able to get comfortable. Despite the closeness of the diners, the atmosphere was relaxed and had a definite Mexican theme.
The waitress brought our drinks and refilled the chips and salsa often. I was starving, so I half filled up on chips before our food arrived. They were perfectly crisp and the salsa was deliciously spicy. But when the food came, I was ready to dig in.
I had ordered the Super Burrito, which was filled with ground beef, rice, and re-fried beans. It came with lettuce, sour cream, and tomatoes on the side. My burrito was amazing, although I could only eat half of it. This is a good thing, because I got an extra meal out of it--in fact, I just finished eating the rest for lunch. It was still delicious after being reheated.
Then the bill came (with breath mints, thank goodness). Minus Dan's free birthday meal, the total for the two of us came to $27. This included my meal, two drinks, tax, and fifteen percent automatic gratuity since we had a larger party. They actually charged gratuity on the free meal too, so it came to about $5. I had to laugh because there was blank space for yet another tip on my credit card receipt, in case you choose to leave a second one. I guess they have to make their money somehow.
If you don't live in Fargo, don't worry--Paradiso has several other locations in the surrounding area. There are also restaurants in Grand Forks, Bismarck, Jamestown, and Minot. Better yet: if you have kids, they get to eat free on Sundays.
To be honest, this wasn't my first visit to Paradiso Mexican Restaurant. I've been there several other times. But I have to say, this visit was by far the best. If you live in Fargo or any of the surrounding areas, you will definitely have to give Paradiso a try.
