Game Background

You have awaken in a world composed of Nature, Technology, and the Supernatural. However, you are only able to exist in one of the three elements of this world at a time but are able to transition between these worlds through Changers. Discover the mystery behind this world and defeat the shadowy figure that holds the key to your true power.

Gameplay

Paradox Embrace is a puzzle platformer that evaluates your performance based on how quickly you complete each stage. Your objective in each stage is to reach a trophy.

At the start of each level, you are given an overview of the entire stage, including all platforms and obstacles. As you explore each stage, you will encounter orb-like objects. These are called Changers and can be used to transition between the three elements of this world: Nature, Technology, and the Supernatural. Each Changer allows you to transition to the corresponding element indicated by the Changer. To transition into a different element, you must first locate a different Changer.

Since there are three different elements in this world, you must utilize the power of Changers to reach different elements, as each element will contain objects that other elements lack. For instance, keys and certain monsters only exist in certain elements.

There will be locked doors and other obstacles that can be unlocked by obtaining keys and/or potions. Explore each stage to collect these items to complete each stage.

As you explore each stage, be wary of monsters and other objects that can hurt you. Getting hurt not only damages your health but also adds 10 seconds to the clock.

Your health is in the shape of a red orb that is displayed at the top-left corner of the screen. To the left of this orb is a sack, in which you can see which items you have collected.

At the bottom-left of the screen, you can toggle the game's sound effects, music, and game quality. You can also escape to the main menu by clicking on the X.

Game Controls

Use arrow keys or WASD to move around.
Press Up or W to jump.
Press Down or S near a Changer to use that Changer.

Review

Paradox Embrace is a mesmerizing puzzle game that will keep players playing with its triple dimensional world. The gameplay is not the most exciting, but for a puzzle game, that is forgivable. The difficulty of each stage is also not too daunting. The artwork and music add to the overall mystery of the game. Since the whole game begins rather mysteriously, players become interested in how the whole game ties together and are thus more likely to complete the game.

Paradox Embrace scores an 8/10 for its high entertainment value.
