Review: Parrot Key Hotel & Resort in Key West, Florida

The Parrot Key Hotel and Resort in Key West, Florida is a four star hotel that is known as Key West's Newest Luxury Resort. Parrot Key offers the largest hotel rooms on the island. Rooms in this hotel go for an average price of $255 per night. Many hotels in the area are quiet expensive because of Key West's remote location and popularity.

Parrot Key is in a great location. A short wall will bring you to Old Town. You will need to take a bike or cab in order to reach Duval or the marina.

Parrot Key offers one or two bedroom suites and two or three bedroom guest cottages. The rooms are beautifully decorated and feature artwork from the island. The rooms are airy and bright.

We stayed in a two bedroom cottage which we found to be huge in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in. Each bedroom had its own bathroom which made it really easy for all of us to get ready at the same time.

There is a restaurant on site called Café Blue which is a casual dining restaurant that has delicious food. They mostly sell salads and sandwiches made from fresh ingredients. A tiki bar sells tropical drinks.

Parrot Key has four pools. They are all set within gardens and have beautiful tile work in them. The large number of pools ensures that they are never crowded, even when the resort is full. We enjoyed relaxing by the pools and exploring each one when we did not feel like walking to the beach.

On site, they offer a snorkeling trip which we decided to take advantage of. The trip was a lot of fun and brought us out to a reef where we saw some different kinds of tropical fish. The trip leader was knowledgeable about the ocean and the staff was helpful in making sure everyone felt comfortable with their snorkeling equipment. Parrot Key also offers other water activities such as jet ski rentals, kayak rentals, fishing excursions, and SCUBA diving.

Keep in mind that the resort has no access to the ocean. Many of the rooms overlook it, and there is a "beach" which is really just a sandy strip, but you will not be able to get into the water from here. If that is what you are looking for, you should stay elsewhere.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and were appreciative of the attentive staff.
