Review of Pastry Apple Glam Pie Hi Tops

A few years ago I was watching the MTV show Run's House and saw that Rev Run's two daughters Angela and Vanessa were going to launch their own line of sneakers called Pastry. They wanted the shoes to be inspired by different pastries, so the shoes are very colorful and have details that you'd find in a pastry.

I thought the Pastry line was really cute and sometimes I'd see the line online or in various stores, but I never bought a pair, because if I had extra money in pocket to buy a pair of shoes, the last thing I was going to buy was a pair of gym shoes.

But after months of not having any gym shoes I began to miss having a pair. I love wearing skinny jeans with boots or ballet flats as much as the next girl, but sometimes even that takes too much time and effort. Sometimes you just wanna throw on a pair of gym shoes and some loose jeans and a t-shirt and just go.

So I decided that I needed a pair of gym shoes and after looking at a lot of different brands I decided to buy a pair of Pastry. I saw a style called the Pastry Apple Glam Pie Hi that I really liked so I bought a pair for $69.99.

The Apple Glam Pie Hi shoes are really fun, they are a hi-top style, hence the Hi in its name. The majority of the shoe is white. Most of the toe section is white (with small apple seed cut-outs to allow the shoe to breathe), the middle of the shoe is white, and the upper part of the hi-top is white as well. But since it is an Apple Glam Pie shoe, there are small cut up apples outlined in turquoise that look like they are about to be thrown into a pie drawn all over these white sections.

The outer rim of the toes are made of some sort of man-made material that is brass colored and the brass is reflected in the lower part of the hi-top that supports the ankle. There is a cocoa colored leather section that wraps around the back of the shoe, and the outer parts have a small square gold Pastry logo inserted inside.

The upper part of the tongue of the shoe is made of turquoise patent leather that has the white 'Pastry' logo written across it. And the lower part of the tongue and the shoes' backs, and the part of the shoe that holds the laces are made of turquoise leather.

Even the soles of these Pastry shoes are detailed. The arched part of the sole of the shoe looks like a brown apple pie crust, and it has 3 turquoise 'apple seeds' embedded in it. The rest of the sole is turquoise with little pies drawn into it.

The last details of these shoes that I've noticed are that the interior of the hi-top is line with blue leopard print fabric. Also the laces are white with gold glittery thread woven into them and they laces have two gold rhinestoned clips attached to each one. The right shoe's clip reads 'Glam' and the left shoe's clip reads 'Pie'.

Even though the Pastry Apple Glam Pie Hi shoes seem like they have a lot going on most of the details aren't even that apparent when I wear them. It basically just looks like I'm wearing a white, gold, and turquoise gym shoe. If you look closely you can see the apples drawn over it but it's not really noticeable. Even though the colors seem random they work with a lot of the colors in my wardrobe, and they seem more like a basic gym shoe now that I have them.

I really like wearing these Pastry shoes they make me feel sporty but also girly at the same time. They are slightly heavier than the flats and other shoes I normally wear, but they're really comfortable and easy to throw on, so I'm glad I bought them. I would definitely buy another pair of Pastry shoes and I would probably go for a pair with wilder colors next time. I give the Apple Glam Pie Hi shoes 5 out of 5 stars, I love the attention to detail that were put in them.
