Review: Pattycake Vegan Bakery

As someone who is not vegan I was originally wary of trying more vegan baked goods. I had tried some before that I didn't like from various grocery stores or other bakeries. But, the vegan in the family kept telling me to try one, and I succumbed to peer pressure. I am glad that I did! I never would have guessed that I would like vegan baked goods so well. I also wouldn't have guessed by just tasting these treats that they were vegan. I have tasted many non-vegan supposedly good for you baked goods that are downright disgusting. But, with these vegan sweets you get the advantage of good taste and it being a healthy choice as well.

My absolute favorite is the blueberry muffin! I love blueberry muffins and this has quickly become my favorite. Now I have a hard time finding any muffin, vegan or non-vegan, to stand up to one of Pattycake's blueberry muffins. I also enjoy their Pumpkin Walnut and Banana Chocolate Chip muffins. Their cookies are also very good- I don't think I have tried them all yet. Pattycake also makes Whoopie Pies that have two pieces of cake connected by flavored cream filling. My favorite is the Pumpkin Spice Whoopie. They also have brownies, sticky buns, cake, cheesecake, and pies. I surprised myself when over the holidays I tried a piece of their Chocolate Buttermint Cake, and loved it! Honestly, that variety of cake vegan or not does not sound incredibly appetizing. But, it was wonderful! It was chocolate cake with buttermint frosting. The frosting tasted just like the after dinner butter mints that melt in your mouth. I would definitely recommend it! They also have scrumptious looking holiday cookies. I haven't tried those yet, but they looked wonderful. Last time I was there I also tried the Buckeye Bar, again I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was wonderful. It left me wishing I had picked up two!

So, if you are ever in Columbus you will have to try Pattycake Vegan Bakery and see for yourself. It was just by chance that we ran into it while driving up and down High Street when I was getting ready to start school in Columbus. Now my parents make me stop in there and pick some up before I come home. Or if they come up to visit me, I am not quite sure if it is to see me or so that they can go to Pattycake. Pattycake has a nice website and it looks like you may be able to order online soon. http://www.pattycakeveganbakery.com/
