A fine dining restaurant to watch the launches, and admire Kennedy, as well as the Indian River- located right out in the open on US highway one is:
Paul's Smoke House Restaurant and P.W. Lounge
3665 S. Washington Ave.
Titusville, Florida 32780
(321) 267-3663
The President of this fine eatery is: Paul Salisbury. Paul's smokehouse was established in 1975.
There are several floors. There is also a scenic style back porch, screened in to protect you from bugs, where you can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air-as well as the scenery.
They often run specials on mixed drinks, and steaks. They have many varieties to keep your palate satisfied. From seafood, to filet mignon, and of course, even children's meals.
A shirt and shoes, are required, as well as the men are asked not to wear sleeveless attire.
They have clean restrooms, and friendly service. You can ask questions, such as we did, to learn what "Soup du jour" was. We were told that this is a soup with ham and beans in it. This is just a fancy way of saying it! LOL
How can you recognize this place? It has a big wooden sign out front displaying the name and a bull on it, it will kind of remind you of a ranch or a stable for animals. Washington Avenue is US Highway 1. The river runs right along side of it.
Once inside, the lighting is dim, and there are antiques everywhere. Some of which they ask you to refrain from touching. The roof is fine sturdy wood, varnished beautifully and there are white Christmas lights along the edge of the ceiling.
Upstairs is the lounge, to which there are also tables, so that if you desire you can eat up there as well you can do so.
You will get a full course meal, including appetizers, and desserts. There are many things to choose from. And with your meal comes hot fresh homemade bread, right from the oven!
And for those of you who don't know, Florida is famous for its rock shrimp, and yes they do serve it!
So if you come to Florida to see the shuttle launches and want to have a nice meal during the launch, drop by Paul's Smokehouse and satisfy your taste buds at the same time!
