I have tried everything: callous razors, stone files, extra softening lotions, loofahs, and even weekly visits for a pedicure. Nothing kept the cracked heels at bay, particularly in the summer time. So I have to admit I was rather excited when I heard that ballet flats were back in style for footwear. Nothing like closed toe and heeled shoes to hide the ugliness. But then I thought of our hot Alabama summers and wondered how I could make it without my flip-flops.
Now before I lose my readership due to this graphic content, let me share with you an amazing invention. The Ped Egg Ultimate Foot File rescued my feet and I am now ready for sandal season! You may have seen the ads on television for this egg-shaped file. I normally do not pay attention to those "only sold on TV" ads because if it is too good to be true, then there is a catch. I have fallen for schemes in the past and will not again. So I waited until I heard a personal testimony. My mother bought one and loved it. Then we discovered that these Ped Eggs are not just sold on TV. I found mine for $10 at my local Super Target.
The Ped Egg works like a vegetable grater on your heels and scrapes the dead, calloused skin off into the egg for easy clean up. It is amazingly gentle on skin. I have used the callous razors in the past to clean off the dead skin and one wrong move and I was bleeding. The Ped Egg's steel grater does not dig that deeply in one swipe. You can rasp off just the right amount without ever hurting yourself. You do not have to soak your feet ahead of time or do any prep. It is also so simple and easy that in just a few minutes even the toughest of heels are all cleaned up and sandal ready. It also lasts a longer time. Whereas I had to use a stone file every night in the shower just to maintain my heels, I only have to use the Ped Egg once a week.
The only drawback I have discovered to date is that you need to hold the Ped Egg grater side up when doing your heels. I tried holding it grater-side down and the dead skin fell back through the holes making a mess. But if you hold it grater side up as you are using it, then there is no mess and clean up is as simple as unclipping the grater from the egg and emptying.
I am excited, needless to say. My rather large sandal and flip-flop wardrobe can be put to good use this summer!

Trying again to leave a comment, first one didn't show. Excellent review!
Super review, have to get one :)
Great article! I thought about leaving a comment about how I keep my feet soft and uncracked, but decided I'd write an article about it instead...lol! Actually, I had a pedicure last summer and for the first time in my life they used the razor thing on me and it made it worse. I guess it's something you have to keep doing unless you do what I do....which I'll be sharing soon!
Great work! Five Stars
Good review, thanks!
Great review. I am always in heels and my feet sometimes need a little extra help. Thanks for this because now I know it works and I can go and buy one!!
Really good review. Thanks
I have one of those egg things for my heals, and a scraper with a handle, too. Works wonders to keep the calluses from cracking and causing me all SORTS of problems with all the walking I do every day.
good review!
