To use, I dispense exactly as I would a lip color; I remove the cap, twist from the bottom to raise the product, then apply. The Vitamin E is a firm, waxy cylinder, but goes on very smoothly, and a bit like an oil. Most of the time I apply this product to my lips. While I would definitely consider this product to be unisex, men need to be aware that it will leave a sheen on the lips. If I don't want the sheen, I dab the product on then gently spread it until it works it's way in. Once applied, this product lasts for many hours on my lips.
This moisturizing stick is also great for use to condition eyelashes! I close one eye, then dab the stick from the base to the end of the lashes. After I've done the other eye, I use the stick to cover the delicate skin under my eyes. Only once have I gotten the substance in my eye, and it didn't irritate it all.
I have the hardest time keeping my cuticles looking nice. When my cuticles are looking particularly dry, I use this stick to apply Vitamin E directly to the cuticles, then rub it in to ensure I've covered from side to side. If I need to use my hands shortly after, I do need to wait a couple of minutes for the product to soak in so I don't get greasy prints on whatever I'm doing.
I've also used this Vitamin E moisturizing stick to do spot treatments on my elbows and other small areas that need attention. Just rub the stick on the area, then work it in with your fingers. It also does a great job of helping to heal very small wounds such as when I cut my leg with a razor.
I usually have several sticks at any one time: living room, powder room, bedside table, and handbag. In all the years I've kept one of these stashed in my bag or in a drawer, I've never had the cap come off. If you pay attention when placing the cap back on, you'll hear a "click" when it's firmly in place.
For targeted moisture, I definitely recommend the Perfectly Pure Natural Vitamin E Moisturizing Stick.
