I did think that it would probably only have 1 or 2 cubes of tofu and the rest would be lots of curry sauce. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it to find it filled to the top with pieces of tofu. Since it was so full, I couldn't resist grabbing one piece to try.
I said I couldn't resist grabbing one piece to try but that one piece ended up being 2, then 3, then. . . I had to use what little willpower I had to stop eating it out of the package and finish the recipe I plan to make. Though, the tofu in the package was generous so my short loss of control barely made a dent.
The easy recipe on the back calls for just broccoli and carrots to complete the stir-fry. I used the recipe on the back and it called for ½ cup of water to cook the broccoli. What I didn't read was to cook it till most of the water evaporates. The broccoli was done to my taste. I thought it was too much water and not noticing that one part of the direction I dumped Pete's Stir-Fry Tofu n' Sauce packet in. What happened was I ended up watering down the tofu and sauce. It was still good but the taste was not as near as bold as it was. Moral of the story read the directions thoroughly. Next time I plan to use less water for the broccoli or dump the excess out before adding Pete's Stir-Fry Tofu n' Sauce.
One packet of Pete's Stir-Fry Tofu n' Sauce only contains 2 servings. Though, it isn't like most products that say 2 servings and they are really barely even one. The curry sauce is very creamy and mildly spicy but full of flavor. The tofu is extra firm and would probably satisfy even the most stubborn meat eaters. The flavor of the sauce taste like it is marinated into the tofu. It is delicious right out of the package.
The servings are generous and very filling. If you are on a diet you might shy away from the calories, 240, and the fat, 14 grams, per serving. But, the ingredients are all real ingredients: Tofu, curry sauce (coconut milk, water, sugar, canola oil, salt, spices, tomato paste, garlic, onion, citric acid.) and it has 14 grams of protein per serving.
There is no doubt I will buy curry flavored Pete's Stir-Fry Tofu n' Sauce again. I think everyone should give it a try, even meat eaters.
