Pittsburg is what is referred to as a college town, with everything in the city revolving around the college itself. Many of the businesses in town even offer current students of the college discounts and special deals when they show their school IDs.
The Gorilla Card
The School ID, or Gorilla Card, itself is the students link to a special college student checking account that automatically receives any refunds that students receive from financial aid. This is offered through the colleges partnership with the local Commerce Bank. Along with this, the card also contains what are called "Banana Bucks" which can be used on campus to pay for things such as print-offs in the college library.

With the education offered at this college, past students have shown a much higher job placement percentage.
Nightlife hotspots
Though most students will be busy with homework, college/club activities, and studying for exams (sure), there are several opportunities to get out at night and have some fun. In Pittsburg there are a few local places to hang out late at night. With the availability of 3 bar and grills in town, the student can easily find a place to hang out. 505 is a quite popular hangout spot for students and non-students alike. JB's Sports Bar and Grill, along with offering a hangout spot also offers live bands at times and several televisions showing all the sports you love. 5th Street Bar, although small, is a nice hangout for those who dislike the more crowded alternatives. For those who are looking for a more active nightlife, a quick jaunt to the nearby city of Joplin, MO offers several different clubs to check out.
