Building a good car audio system requires a good balance between design and individual components to allow for the best possible quality. If you have only one substandard piece of equipment hindering your setup, it can drastically affect how the others perform.
One of the biggest and most respected names in the car and home audio systems niche is Polk Audio. I have owned many different products from this company when it comes to home theater and I decided to give their new component speakers that would fit my vehicle a try.
After examining display models at my local car audio shop, I was thoroughly impressed with the sound and clarity these speakers provide. What I enjoy the most about the Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System has to be the power handling; these premium speakers can handle up to 100 watts continuous power with 300 watts peak. The amount of power that these mighty speakers can handle makes them a perfect candidate for external amplifiers you may choose to integrate into your car audio system.
The problem I had with other cheaper component speaker systems was the tendency for the tweeters to fail prematurely. With the Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System you are benefited with the added assurance of tweeter protection by way of the advanced crossover system. For the size of the speakers, the low end frequency response is very impressive. Because I employ subwoofers to handle the low end bass, I typically set my head units' low pass filter to around 85 Hz. This allows all of the speakers in my vehicle to blend nicely and work in harmony with the subwoofers as well as lessen the stress on the smaller speakers.
The package includes speaker grilles for a nice custom installation; however, I chose to keep the stock look by mounting the speakers in the original openings. Because of the low profile of the Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System, you should be able to mount these gems in most all stock speaker locations that have 6.5 inch speaker openings.
So far I am completely happy with my car audio system and due to the extra care and quality material used to produce these units, I have no doubt that they will last for a very long time.
