When I was pregnant with my son, my Mom & Aunt were shopping at a Motherhood Maternity store and my Mom noticed a product called "Preggie Pop Drops" that claimed to help with morning sickness. My Mom picked some up and gave them to the skeptical and very sick me. They turned out to be a cute little package of candies that were several different types of sour flavors (raspberry, lemon, green apple and tangerine) but they weren't too sour. They tasted pretty good and actually did help my nausea quite a bit! They were the only thing I found that actually helped calm my stomach down so I could function for the rest of the day.
I am pregnant again (as I'm sure I've only mentioned a gazillion times!) and I was thinking about those candies the other day as I headed to the bathroom to refund anything in my stomach to the Porcelain God...again. The Motherhood Maternity store my Mom went to was quite a distance away so I figured I would look them up online and see if they sold them anywhere else. Guess what? They do! In addition to Motherhood Maternity stores, you can find them at HEB, Meijer, Babies 'R' Us, Mimi Maternity, A Pea in the Pod and Allegro Medical. And if you still don't have any of those stores, you can buy them online!
In addition to the Preggie Pop Drop candies, they also have regular Preggie Pops, which are suckers, if you'd rather try those. They also make Queasy Pops and Queasy Drops, suckers or candies for kids or adults that have upset tummies. They have tons of different flavors too. If sour isn't your thing, maybe you could try banana, peppermint, pomegranate, ginger, green tea, mint or even cola! For any one with sugar problems, they make a sugar free variety pack. And for the "Green" folks out there, they now have an organic pack!
Preggie Pops do not contain anything crazy or weird. They're made with natural flavors and colors and there are no drugs or medications in them. Their website says they work with a combination of: essential oil flavors that are known to help stomach problems, aromatherapy, their mode of delivery (one small amount at a time) and sugars to combat your queasy stomach.
I don't mean to go on and on but when you find something that works, you want to share it with the world! These candies really worked well for me and I look forward to using them during this pregnancy too! People have used them for motion sickness and even during labor. You might check them out if you're having tummy troubles or if you, like me, are dealing with one of the unpleasant side effects of growing a human. :)
