After getting my first pair of shoes I was elated to find that they actually worked for me. My feet felt great, I could work all day and not feel like soaking them in warm water all night to relieve the pain. Things were going great until the following year when my health insurance separated the deductibles for drug prescriptions from the deductibles for medical equipment. This meant a $600 shoe fitment cost me about $400 at my next replacement. That was way more than I could afford it along with the other medical expenses being paid each month.
So off I went on a search for a cheaper replacement. I tried a few things out, but nothing had the "no friction" smooth feeling that the orthopedic insoles had. That is until I found the ProFoot 2oz. Miracle Custom Molding Insoles. I put these in place of my worn out prescription insoles and immediately could tell that these would be the perfect replacement. They were under $10 and had the same frictionless feel to them. The smooth feeling is what keeps your feet from getting that uncomfortable feeling associated with neuropathy.
The only drawback to them was that they were not as thick as the orthopedic ones. To remedy that problem I coupled the ProFoot insole with a cheap generic gel insole and had a great experience. I have been using this setup for the last 2 years with great success. I even quit buying the orthopedic shoes and reverted back to regular shoes with the dual insert setup.
Now not being a doctor, I can only describe my experience. To me at least these are as good as the prescription insoles were. And the cost has been a huge advantage to the family budget. I highly recommend these ProFoot insoles, and for the price you are not out much to give them a try.
