A few days ago, I was doing some shopping at our local Wal-mart and came across something I hadn't heard of before; Quaker Stila Bars. I wasn't really sure what they were (or what the difference was between these and other snack bars). But, the store was selling the box for just $6 so I decided to try the blueberry flavor of them.
As I mentioned before, this was the first time I had even heard of this product and, because of that, wasn't really sure what to expect from them. However, when I finally got around to trying them, I figured they would taste similar to about a dozen other brands of fruit filled bars I've had in the past.
I was wrong about that.
At first, I wasn't really sure what to think of this product when I tried it. I was a bit surprised when the bar was crisp rather than soft and chewy and I thought it had a bit of a strange flavor to it. However, after trying one, I had to admit, I did end up liking these.
The biggest reason for this, I think, was the flavor. As I said before, the bars had a bit of a strange taste to them. But, in this particular case, strange wasn't really a bad thing. Once I got used to it, I realized I liked the flavor more than some other snack bars I've tried in the past. And, the fact the bar was somewhat crunchy did give it just enough difference to make it memorable.
Another thing I realized about these is they were very filling. I had one for breakfast the other morning and it stayed with me until lunch (and I had lunch later that day).
My only real complaint about this product is the bars really didn't have a whole lot of fruit filling inside them. There was some and I could taste it. But, I have had other brands that offered quite a bit more and, as a result, I was a little disappointed by that. However, as I said before, I only paid $1 for a box of 6 so this is something that really wasn't a huge deal.
Overall, I have to say I was happy with this product. I think this is something I would buy again; especially if I can continue to find them at such a great price. If you haven't tried them, I recommend doing so.
