As soon as you enter the rainforest café you are thrust into a new world of wild life and safari creatures. The Las Vegas Rainforest Café includes two large saltwater fish aquariums that welcome customers and allow them to view the fish in their natural surroundings while waiting for a table.
Once you are seated, the waiters and waitresses welcome you dressed as safari guides. The menu is large and includes salads, wraps, pizza, soup and home style dinners.
The portions are large and served quickly. If you are looking for a special drink to quench your thirst then the Rainforest Café is for you. They offer a variety of smoothies and mix drinks at reasonable prices. A signature at Rainforest Café is the dessert known as the volcano. Even if you are not a dessert lover this dish is a must. It is made up of ice cream, brownies and hot fudge. The decadent treat is topped off with a flaming sparkler. An even more exciting reason to order the volcano is the show you get along with it. The waiter brings the dessert and screams "volcano!" on his or her way to your table.
If you don't want to pay the extra money for a show with dessert then just stick around the Rainforest Café for a little while. Every half hour the place comes alive as rain falls from the ceiling and the animatronic wild animals come to life. The place erupts in thunder and flashing lights along with animal calls and fog like mist.
The restaurant itself is not extremely large. The seating is somewhat close, but the overall environment is dark and encloses customers in privacy. Much of the space is occupied by a Rainforest Café shop connected to the front entrance of the restaurant. Inside customers can buy a variety of items. Tee shirts, sweatshirts, golf shirts, hats and mugs are just a few of the items available for purchase. There are also hundreds of stuffed animals that would make great souvenirs for small kids.
The Rainforest Café in the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas strip is an excellent place to take a break from gambling and the bright lights of the city. It's a great restaurant to sit, relax and take in the man made "natural" surroundings.
