Review of Raspberry Ginger Peace Cereal

Can Breakfast Save the World? Maybe If it is PEACE Cereal

E.V. Smith
There are so many choices for food on the market today. Recently the local grocery store where I shop did a major expansion. It was huge before and now it is ginormous. I think it is the size of about ten football fields. It is so big that there are customer service representatives stationed around the store to direct shoppers to the items they are looking for. If not for those helpful folks, it would be really easy to get lost for an indeterminable amount of time. During one of my shopping forays at said grocery store, I happened upon the organic cereal aisle, and PEACE Cereal. The box immediately called out to me with its subtle pink shade and enormous bowl of cereal heaping with fresh peaches on the front. It looked delicious and even though it was $3.99, I had to try it. I am a box-reader, so I looked over the box carefully before placing it in my cart. It is 73% organic and 10% of profits are donated to Peace!! The back of the box highlighted one of the groups that PEACE Cereal donates to... Habitat for Humanity and the whole idea made me feel good about buying this cereal.

Once I got the cereal home, I had to sample it. I poured some into a cereal bowl and was pleasantly surprised. The amount of granola in the cereal was astronomical. And the clusters of granola were marble-sized. No little tiny nuggets of granola here... I have tried other granola and flake cereals before and was dismayed by the tiny amount of granola in the cereal - NOT this time! I would say there is an equal ratio of flakes to granola... A perfect combination. The dried raspberries are an ample size and taste, well, like raspberries. So now it was time to add the milk... The first bite was crunchy, tangy and delicious. The second bite was the same. And the third, and the fourth and so on. This cereal does not get soggy in milk! It stays crunchy. What a revelation! The idea of a cereal that you can take your time eating because it will not lose consistency is a great one. Now I don't have to inhale my cereal so it won't be mush by the time I get close to finishing it. I can read the paper, and sip my coffee and enjoy my cereal, all without fear that it will meld into a milky nothingness before I am done.

Raspberry Ginger Peace Cereal is a low fat crisp which has 200 calories (1 cup serving) and with 1/2 cup of skim milk (240 calories). It is vegan and has 3 grams of fat. There is no cholesterol, although sodium is a bit high, 240mg. This is not a fiber-rich cereal either... only 3 grams. However, it tastes delicious and is good for the earth, and I cannot think of many other cereals that claim to do that. Raspberry Ginger is the only flavor I have tried so far, but there are many others to try. Here are some others available from Peace Cereal... Vanilla Nut Rainforest Crunch, Vanilla Almond, Maple Raisin, Wild Berry Crisp, Apple Cinnamon and Essential 10.

I used to be a Golden Grahams or Cheerios type of cereal eater. But for now, for me, Peace Cereal will be the only cereal in my kitchen. I highly suggest you try it.

Peace.

"Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures." - John F. Kennedy

I think it's wonderful that this cereal has made you so happy! :D I must rush right out and buy a box for myself!! And I truly like the idea of making small differences one step at a time. It is the only way things ever change! Thanks! :)
