Review of Red Robin in Chattanooga, Tennessee

We decided to go out for a burger tonight and since we knew of Red Robin from living out west for so long we thought that we would give this one here in Chattanooga a try. When we got there we were seated at a booth that was entirely too small for the three of us to sit at it was very uncomfortable from the moment we sat down. In fact I started to have a little bit of a panic attack because we were squeezed in so tight. The place was practically empty and the boy that seated us evidently had no idea how to accommodate a family for seating.

Our waitress who was the best part of the experience came to the table and took our drink order and we also ordered their onion rings to start with. It didn't take very long for her to come back with them and we sat trying to decide what to eat. We noticed that the other waiters in the restaurant were not doing anything at all except talking to the random girl that came in. While we were looking and deciding what to eat our drinks and onion rings arrived and the waitress took our burger order. I ordered the blue cheese burger my son had the grilled cheese and fries and hubby chose the guacomole burger with medium with cheddar cheese.

We sat for a little while probably 10 minutes until our food arrived and when it did they hadn't made the fries yet, my husbands burger was not made with cheddar cheese but with swiss. He told the waitress about it and she had it sent back to be fixed. My son chowed down on his grilled cheese I guess there is not much that you can do wrong with a piece of cheese between two slices of bread. My burger was ok it wasn't cooked how I wanted it I am more of a cook it all the way kind of person and it still had pink inside needless to say I wasn't impressed. Meanwhile two of the three orders had made it to the table and my husbands burger had made it back also.

As we ate I started to look at my husbands burger and noticed that he wasn't eating it and he wasn't saying much either. The burger that they had brought back to him was raw it looked like all they did when they switched the cheese was take a burger patty and flip it on the grill a couple of times put the cheese on it and handed it back. My husband likes his beef with a little pink inside more like how my burger was cooked not cold meat on the inside with a brown outside. The waitress came back to the table with the third order of fries and I had to say something about it.

My husband is not one to complain but when I seen what they had served him I thought that it was appropriate to let them know that he had been served raw meat. The polite waitress told me that she would take care of it and go and talk to the manager. A few minutes later she came back to the table and said that the food was on the house and that she understood why we weren't happy. The manager came to the table about 5 minutes after she had walked away and was very apologetic. He said that he would like to take care of the meal and talked to husband about the burger he was eating. Before anything else could be said about the burger he said that it was visible that the burger was raw on the inside.

After telling us that our meal was going to be on the house he offered to set it up so that we could come back on another evening and have dinner on the house, that we should not of had the experience that we did and he didn't want us to have a bad opinion of the establishment. We said that we really weren't interested in coming back that we appreciated him offering and we really did. There aren't a lot of places here in Chattanooga that would make such an offer and be so kind about a bad experience. I give the waitress and the manager the credit for the fact that they actually were concerned about the feelings that we were having.

I am torn between two things suggesting this restaurant just because of the service but am not able to because of the food. I was impressed with the way that the problem was handled but definitely didn't leave with my stomach full and a feeling of satisfaction. On a scale of one to ten I would give the place a definite 8 because the food wasn't great but the service was. I wont be back anytime soon I think that there are many more places that I need to try before I go there again, Maybe Red Robin would be ok in another city. I would definitely give them a try but that's all I can give them. Happy Eating!
