Synopsis of the Children's Alphabet Book D is for Down Under
Words of the alphabet are reflected on Aussie-style in this 40 page book. Each letter of the alphabet is given 1-2 pages, and has to do with some aspect of Australia, including The Great Barrier Reef (g), Aborigines (a), the outback (o), Uluru (u), Ned Kelly (n), Vegemite sandwiches (v), and didgeridoos (d). The text that introduces each alphabet letter is rhyming and poetic, but there are also factual paragraphs accompanying each illustration and poem that discuss more in depth that particular aspect of Australia, making for a nice read for kids and/or their parents as they learn about the people, culture, slang and cities of "The Land Down Under." This is a large children's alphabet book in both height (10 ¼") and width (11 ¼"), where the ruggedly charming illustrations are engaging and cartoon-like, making for memorable word-picture associations.
As a travel writer and lover of geography, I recommend this children's alphabet book because it will help children learn more about the island continent of Australia. To begin the book, a map of the country is featured, with the political borders of the six Australian states of Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania being displayed. Northern Territory, despite its size, isn't a state, but a territory on the Australian mainland.
This children's alphabet book is available at retail outlets like Amazon.com, and its Suggested Retail Price is $17.95. The ISBN Number for D is for Down Under is 1585364452.
