Review of Robert August Surfboards

Rik Rodriguez
Several years ago I purchased a Robert August custom made surfboard. I ordered it online. Then I called up Robert August to make sure they were going to create a surfboard that I would be able to catch 100's of waves on. Why would I think that a custom made surfboard from Robert August would catch waves better than the board I had? I thought you might ask that question. Well I had bought a surfboard that was made by Robert August when I lived in Washington State. Actually from a garage sale. That surfboard lasted several years and I surfed the cold Washington coast at least 3 times a week. Just ask my wife. The garage sale surfboard was built like no other surfboard that I had ever rode. It caught large and small waves. It was fast and very maneuverable and had plenty of flotation. We had to wear full wet-suits in Washington so any extra float was welcomed.

Back to the custom surfboard I ordered and surfed the great lakes and also the board helped me make it to number 1 in my division in ESA. It caught waves better that the garage sale board. I thought that was impossible. The first time I surfed a Hurricane swell in Florida, I was so impressed how the surfboard handled in larger surf. It made the drops easily, held the line and just ripped off of the top of the wave. I got very confident and pushed the Robert August surfboard to the limit. Well at least to my limit. I took it out in a second hurricane swell that was at least triple over head. That's pretty big for Florida. It worked so sweet, I felt like I was surfing Hawaii on a gun. If you are a beginner surfer or if you have been surfing all your life Robert August surfboards are of exceptional quality and are very stylish. But most importantly the boards catch more waves than any surfboard I have purchased. It sure makes a difference when you buy a stick that is created by guys who have been surfing all their lives. They never skimp on quality. The surfboard lasted for over 5 years and I surfed it on not 100s of waves but a few thousand waves. Thank you Robert and Steve August.
