Review: Rx for Brown Skin Absolute Radiance

A Gel that Exfoilates? You've Got to Be Kidding

My first experience with Rx for Brown Skin Absolute Radiance Intensive Exfoliating Serum was through some samples I received during on a shopping trip at Sephora. Later on that night I opened up the package expecting to see some type of lotion and saw a clear gel.

I was skeptical of this gel being able to exfoliate my skin. Most substances that exfoliate usually have some type of texture to them. It has to get the dead cells off right? This was just gel, but I put it on my face anyway. Since it was water based it didn't feel thick or goopy. That was a definite plus.

It also absorbed into my skin very quickly. I went to bed a few minutes later and was happy that my face didn't stick to my pillow. Some gels tend to leave a film even though they are dry to the touch and this did not have that at all. The next day I used Absolute Radiance and put my moisturizer on afterward. I was worried that since my moisturizer was a lotion and the product was a gel that they would react adversely with each other, but that didn't happen. I credit that to Absolute Radiance's fast absorption.

The serum would give my skin a subtle and healthy-looking sheen. There were some days when I could just wear Absolute Radiance and skip moisturizer because it was just enough hydration for my skin. This was only if I knew I wasn't going outside. If I decided to go outside I would put sunscreen on top. It didn't react with that either.

I was not completely sold on the exfoliation promises. I just didn't think a gel would exfoliate or get rid of skin discolorations as well as a scrub or something more textured. However I was sold on it's ability to hydrate my skin. I would have purchased Absolute Radiance after that first week of using it but I wanted to finish my samples first just to be sure the product was for me.

Over the next couple of weeks I started to notice that my skin looked better. As stated before the sheen made it look healthier but then I noticed some of my acne scars were less noticeable. They weren't gone but just slightly faded. My skin looked and felt smoother. It excited me and has made me continue to use the product ever since.

To be fair no one really noticed my skin improvement. The only people who see me on a regular basis are my 2 year old(obviously he could care less) and my husband (thinks I look good no matter what). It's quite possible it's all in my head but sometimes all you have is what you see in the mirror. I saw improvement so I think this is a good product. I'd recommend this to someone who wants to take break from harsher scrubs.
