That first experience eating Vietnamese food was so memorable that I decided to try another Vietnamese establishment that was referred to me by a friend located in Duluth, Georgia. The name of the restaurant is Saigon Cafe. When you enter the restaurant there is one thing that stuck out and that is the very large coconut tree residing in the middle of the Saigon Cafe. The place has the feel of being in a tropical environment with plush greenery and native decor. Once I looked over the menu, I realized that one of their specialties is their soup and there are at least 10 or 15 to choose from.
Since I had already tried the soup, I decided to try something different. This time I went for their seasoned steak with rice and salad. The server told me that you are suppose to mix all of the ingredients together to make a rice salad. It sounded strange to me at first, but I tried it and it was wonderful! The sauce at the bottom of the plate mixed well with the lettuce, tomatoes, steak and rice. It was like a big party in your mouth. Although the main course was wonderful, I have to tell you that their sweet potato shrimp is to die for and I mean that literally. When my host ordered it, I was a little skeptical, but once I tried it I was instantly sold. The sweet taste of the sweet potato with the combination of the jumbo shrimp on top was heavenly. There is also this sauce that you dip it in that makes your taste buds kind of dance in your mouth. People, you have got to try that dish, you'll be happy you did, even if you have to do 30 minutes of cardio after wards, it's so worth it!
The other decadent thing they serve at the Saigon Cafe are their bubble drinks which can be served in tea form or smoothie form. This is a sweet treat that you will have a hard time deciding what flavor to try, but once you try it, you'll be back for more! The Saigon Cafe is located at 3675 Satellite Blvd in Duluth, GA 30096 in the same plaza as TJMaxx and Bed, Bath and Beyond. The price point for lunch and dinner is anywhere between $5.00 and $10.00 and worth every penny. The Saigon Cafe is a great place for family get together or even a girls night out.
Bottom-line: Great food, Excellent prices and great family friendly atmosphere.
