Story : Generic alien stuff here. Aliens have almost killed every human in existence. Everything is nearly taken out except for you. Equipped with weaponry to make Arnold Schwarzenegger jealous, it's up to you to save the world!
Graphics : Great graphics! Everything is drawn and animated well, the backgrounds, the sprites, the enemies. There's nothing here that they were lazy about, everything looks great. The weaponry looks especially great, and it's very satisfying to be able to take out so many enemies at once when you're powered up, just because the graphics are so good.
Sound : The music here is exceptionally well done. They put a lot of effort into it and it shows. The sound effects are very fulfilling and the sound of your gun blasting down alien after alien is satisfying. The arrangements and tones in the music fit well. There's nothing annoying to be heard here. Overall the sound compliments everything else in the game.
Game play : There's one thing in this game that's absolutely awesome. The ability to shoot behind you! Most shooters don't have this but S.C.A.T. needs it and pulls it off admirably. The rest of the controls are just as great too, fluid and responsive as it should be. In addition, this game can be played by two players. A lot of Nintendo games don't feature this option, so it's a joy to see it included here.
You have these guns that orbit around you and shoot when you shoot, something that's also a very nice touch since you don't have to be directly in front of something to kill it. You can even lock your orbital guns with a touch of a button and have them do fixed shots in a single direction! Wow! The difficulty in this game is solid but still not too much, especially since the degree of control is amazing and you have the ability to potentially shoot in all directions when you learn the game well.
Re playability : Very re playable, the game doesn't have any annoying features at all really. If you can manage to play this with a friend, there's a good chance you won't be able to put it down!
Overall : 10/10. Excellent game with no drawbacks.
