Review: Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore

Makes the Old Ring Stacking Game Much More Entertaining

Arthur Kirk
At least toy manufacturers have finally realized that stacking rings on a pole that does nothing to entertain you is boring. Shelcore at least is adding some bells and whistles to the task for kids with their Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore. With the Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore your child's entertainment does not end after stacking three rings, instead the entertainment is just beginning for your and your child. There are options you child must decide upon that will affect how the Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore using the rings that they just stacked. This is a great advancement in the ring tower, and has kept my two year old entertained even as he got older.

He received the Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore as a gift less than six months after he was born. At that point it really was nothing more than a ring stacking game to him. As he got older though we taught him how to rotate the rings in the circle and make different musical combinations. The Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore claims to be able to make 175 different sound combinations using a sound, music, and rhythm ring. All your child has to do is rotate the rings to the combination he or she likes and then the Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore will start to swing its arms and dance around entertaining your child.

This had the potential to be a great toy for my son. Unfortunately the Shelcore Sound Beginnings Groove N Go Music Maker by Shelcore just plain doesn't interact as the manufacturer claims it does. The first issue is that there is not nearly 175 different sound combinations. I've heard about 15 unique sound combinations and that is it. Also the ring combinations do not accurately adjust the sound combinations. Either the chips don't line up correctly, or if is just misleading labeling of the rings. Regardless, this is one of those toys that is a great concept, but somewhere between the designing table and the finished product turned out to be a complete dud. As a parent, I would recommend you save a few dollars and instead of purchasing this toy, just go ahead and purchase the tower with the colored rings for your infant or toddler to play with.

  • The concept is great.
  • The toy does dance around and entertain.
  • Unfortunately you can't really control the sound combinations as it claims.
I have no idea why the manufacturer says there are 175 sound combinations, I've heard no more than 15.
