I am a chili lover and a relative of mine told me about Skyline Original Recipe Chili. I found it in the frozen dinners section of my local favorite grocery store. It did look pretty good. I decided to purchase it, try it and write a product review all about my experience. Here is what I discovered!
One box of Skyline Original Recipe Chili costs around three dollars. It serves two people, so the price was affordable, in my opinion. This chili is advertised as being Cincinnati's Famous chili. That sounded promising. I was not familiar with the Skyline food products brand, but I do enjoy trying different products. The picture of this chili, on the outside of the box, looked tempting. The ingredients are beef, water, tomato sauce, dried yeast, spices, salt, dehydrated onion, garlic, paprika and natural flavors. Sounded good to me. I could not wait to taste this dish!
I discovered that this chili is perfect for microwave cooking. I cut a small slit in the cover, placed the package on a microwave safe plate, heated on high for seven minutes, uncovered, stirred well and served. This chili smelled great and it looked interesting, for sure. I tasted it and liked it. Very beefy. It has perfect seasoning and is hearty. No beans here, straight meat lover's chili. I rate Skyline Original Recipe Chili three and one half stars out of five stars. It is different. I decided to add cheese and sour cream to it and it did become fabulous. Still, I missed beans and I favor chili with lots of beans. If you are not a bean lover, this one is probably for you. There are lots of great recipes and serving suggestions on the box.
One serving has 290 calories. 160 of those calories come from fat. One serving has 17 grams of total fat, 7 grams of saturated fat, 1 gram of trans fat, 85 grams of cholesterol, iyiyi, 1200 mg's of sodium, omg, 6 grams of total carbs, 3 grams of sugars, 1 gram of dietary fiber and 27 grams of protein. If you are watching your sodium intake or cholesterol, this one is not for you. It is not too diet friendly, either. It does have lots of vitamins A, C and iron in it. This chili does make a wicked good chili cheese dog.
I enjoyed trying Skyline Original Recipe Chili and writing this product review about it. It was fun to try, but I doubt I will be buying it again. It is not too healthy and I do like beans in my chili. Still, this one is a winner for meat lovers, if they are not diet restricted. You may be, after eating a lot of this product, though. Be careful.
