Review South Beach Living Crispy Meal Bar

Jennifer Glennon
There are many meal replacement bars on the market. Many of these bars are marketed to help people to lose weight. One such bar is the South Beach Living Crispy Meal Bar. The South Beach diet is a very hot diet trend that works on the concept of combining the right amount of certain carbs and proteins to help people to lose weight. There are different phases of the South Beach diet and the Crispy Meal Bar is allowed on phase 2 and 3. I am always one who wants to find a healthy and tasty way to eat lunch on the go, so I decided to give the South Beach Living Crispy Meal Bar to the test.

The bar itself was a generous size compared to many other weight loss meal replacement bars that I have tried in the past. The important part about this is that you feel like you have eaten something substantial after eating the South Beach Living Crispy Meal Bar. If you do not feel this way you will end up reaching for something else to eat and will negate any positive effects of eating a meal replacement bar. I choose the chocolate flavor out of the flavor choices that I had for the meal replacement bar.

The chocolate flavoring of the South Beach Living Crispy Meal bar does not taste like chocolate. It has a bad after taste that lingers after you have finished the bar. The crispy rice texture of the meal replacement bar is ok. It helped to make me feel full when I was done eating the bar. I did find it to be fairly dry though. I drank an entire bottle of water with the South Beach bar.

The dietary exchange of the South Beach Living Crispy Meal Bar as listed on the package is 1 carb and 2 lean meats. The serving size is 1 meal replacement bar and equals 210 calories. 60 of these calories come from fat. This diet friendly meal replacement bar packs 360 mg of sodium. This is actually 15% of your daily intake of sodium. Total fat for the bar is 6g.

The South Beach Living Crispy Meal Bar was a great let down. It failed to deliver in taste, which is the one of the most important qualities in a meal replacement bar. There are so many bars on that market that there is no need to waste 210 calories on a foul tasting bar.
