Speck's CandyShell case was voted "Best of Show" at MacWorld 2009 by iLounge.com and Prong.com.
The glossy outer shell slips in and out of products easily, a feature which has its pro's and con's. When sitting down, the case can slide out of the pockets of a pair of khaki pants. On the other side, though, it makes the phone easy to pull out when you need to answer or access your iPhone 3G.
The CandyShell fits the iPhone 3G and 3GS rather comfortably. There are cutouts for the headphone jack, docking port, ringer switch and camera. Given that the case, as with most phone cases, mainly protects the bottom and sides of the phone, Speck includes a removable screen protector film for extra scratch protection on your iPhone. As a note, you will want to make sure your screen is free from dust before applying the screen protector.
Speck's CandyShell cases are durable and will insulate your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS from falls of a reasonable height. Additionally, your phone fits tight and snug inside the CandyShell case, which means it is more securely protected than if the phone were sitting loose inside the shell.
The CandyShell case has vibrant colors which are more geared towards a younger market. If you are a professional or businessman, you may want to forgo the BubbleMaker Pink color. Of course, the BatWing Black or WaxStick White colors are perfectly acceptable for those who use their iPhone 3G's for predominantly business-related purposes.
The cost of Speck's CandyShell case is $34.95, which is very reasonable for the protection your iPhone 3G will receive. The price puts it more in the upper-mid range of iPhone cases, but there are easily more expensive models out there.
All things considered, Speck's CandyShell is a nice-looking product. The cool colors will definitely appeal to a younger market, but the durability and design could attract an older customer base, especially if they look to the black and white models.
