Review of The Spotted Hog Candle Company

Lori Piper
I used to not enjoy going over to my friend's home because of the smell. It was not a bad smell. However, she smoked and smoke no matter what, lingers. She would set out those odorless ashtrays (ha--- they do not work) and have the smoker's candles lit throughout the home. Alas, the odor remained. Not to her. As she lived there, she could no longer detect any harmful or foul smells when she walked through the front door. Most of us do become immune to the scents of our own home after awhile.

Rather than to come up with excuses as to why I or anyone in our circle did not feel comfortable being in her home, we decided to start researching candles. There had to be something out there right? There just had to be. She is not the only smoker, nor is her home the only home with lingering unpleasant odors.

There is something out there. The Spotted Hog Candle Company. What an amazing candle company. They are an online company based in New York. We discovered them through the Website- www.candlefind.com.

More and more reviews were positive about this company and so I went to their website and --- just fell in love.

They have sixteen-ounce candles with double wicks. The prices were not bad, and shipping is one flat fee of $8.95. They sell candles in apothecary jars, which can fit right in with any décor, whether it is traditional or contemporary.

I bought two for my friend and two for me. The most difficult part of the purchase was deciding which scent to purchase. There is so many to choose from and they all sounded heavenly. In the end, I opted for two with the Harvest Scent and two with the cinnamon vanilla scent.

They arrived approximately a week later and I immediately opened the box up and took the candles out of the packaging. They looked so pretty. I placed one in my living room and one in my study. I lit both and went about my business. I did not have to wait long at all before the entire home (I have a four bedroom home) began to smell wonderful. I found myself willing to go put clean laundry away in each room myself just to see if the aroma went into that room. It did. Good gracious, the scent throw of these candles is amazing. Most candles scent only a small perimeter of the room they are in, not these. Spotted Hog Candles scented my entire home.

I gave my friend her candles after she came to visit me and she could smell the lovely aroma. (I may not smoke, but if you can recall from other articles of mine, I do cat rescue and have cats, cats and more cats.) She is now a believer of this company as well. She states that even though she could not smell the lingering smoke odor, after using her Harvest scented candles, she noticed the difference, as did her family, and friends.

In our circle of family and friends, we have all switched to The Spotted Hog Candles and have enjoyed each scent we have tried. Prices are moderate. For their largest candle- a twenty-eight -ounce triple wick apothecary jar candle with a burn time of 150 + hours, the price is $19.50. For a package of twelve tea lights, the price is only ten dollars.

The Spotted Hog also sells tarts- trial size twelve hour lasting candles. For a dollar or so, you can try out any scent you are interested in prior to making a purchase.

Not a baker, but love the smell of bakeries? Bakery scents are Tarrah Zimmerman's, the owner, specialty. Try any of the tarts and your family will want to devour whatever they think you are baking or have baked in the kitchen.

We have since, tried other various candle companies, only to be disappointed. No more will we venture out. Our loyalty remains with the Spotted Hog. Yours will too, go ahead and try a tart!

I will have to try these candles! Even with Glade candles you have to stand right over them to smell them. Great article!
