Review of Starbucks Java Chip Ice Cream: Yum, Yum, Yum

Although I'm a couponer and do my best to stick to our $20 weekly grocery budget, I still like me some ice cream. I had some coupon overage a while back, and had stocked up on our produce for the week. So I decided to try Starbucks Java Chip ice cream and I'm glad I did.

Ingredients:
Milk, cream, skim milk, sugar, Chocolaty Chunks (sugar, coconut oil, cocoa processed with alkali, cocoa, butter oil, soy lecithin, natural flavor), brewed Starbucks coffee, egg yolks, caramel color, carob bean gum, guar gum, carrageenan, dextrose,

Taste:
When I went for this product and specific flavor, I was hoping it would taste similar to a Starbuck's Mocha Frappuccino. Surprisingly, it did. The taste is very coffee-like, but smooth and sweet at the same time. Brand-wise, I am a Breyer's fan, but Starbuck's Java Chip ice cream definitely compared well with Breyer's Coffee ice cream. The chocolate bits were dark, rich chocolate.

Texture: The texture is very smooth, and the chips of chocolate are rectangular in the ice cream. Looking at the ingredients, you can see why it's so smooth--there is a lot of cream in this ice cream. I could have gone with fewer chocolaty chips, but for chocolate and coffee lovers, you'll appreciate this.

Appearance: Rich chocolate milk coloring, with chunks of chocolate intermixed.

Price: Varies by grocery store, but at a local grocery store in the Southeast, the cost is $4.99/1 quart. Expensive, yes, but relatively average compared to other ice creams.

Overall: I was extremely please with Starbucks Java Chip ice cream. It is now my favorite ice cream. The texture and taste combine for an unforgettable edible experience. I called customer service to let them know I was pleased with the product and asked if I could have coupons sent to me so I could try another flavor. They were delighted to hear my view, and told me I'd have coupons coming my way.
