Taste:
When I went for this product and specific flavor, I was hoping it would taste similar to a Starbuck's Mocha Frappuccino. Surprisingly, it did. The taste is very coffee-like, but smooth and sweet at the same time. Brand-wise, I am a Breyer's fan, but Starbuck's Java Chip ice cream definitely compared well with Breyer's Coffee ice cream. The chocolate bits were dark, rich chocolate.
Texture: The texture is very smooth, and the chips of chocolate are rectangular in the ice cream. Looking at the ingredients, you can see why it's so smooth--there is a lot of cream in this ice cream. I could have gone with fewer chocolaty chips, but for chocolate and coffee lovers, you'll appreciate this.
Appearance: Rich chocolate milk coloring, with chunks of chocolate intermixed.
Price: Varies by grocery store, but at a local grocery store in the Southeast, the cost is $4.99/1 quart. Expensive, yes, but relatively average compared to other ice creams.
Overall: I was extremely please with Starbucks Java Chip ice cream. It is now my favorite ice cream. The texture and taste combine for an unforgettable edible experience. I called customer service to let them know I was pleased with the product and asked if I could have coupons sent to me so I could try another flavor. They were delighted to hear my view, and told me I'd have coupons coming my way.
