I am a fan of many Starkist brand foods, so when I came across Starkist Seasations Mediterranean Herb Tilapia Dinner in the frozen dinners section of my local Dollar Tree store, I was delighted. This dinner for one looked really good! I decided to purchase it, try it out and write a product review all about my experience with it. Here is what I discovered!
I bought one Starkist Seasations Mediterranean Herb Tilapia Dinner for only one dollar. What a food budget friendly deal, I must say. This dinner is exciting, new and different. It has tilapia, brown rice, yellow peppers, zucchini, black olive bits, lemon juice, cheese, feta cheese, celery, onions, spices, herb sauce and many other ingredients in it. That all sounded great to me! I discovered that this dish is low cal, low in saturated fat, protein rich and filled with potassium. I could not wait to taste it!
This meal is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I decided to prepare it. I placed the tray in my microwave and cooked on high for six minutes. I then let this dish stand for one minute, before uncovering, stirring well and serving. It smelled great and looked fantastic! The tilapia fish is in large pieces and I broke them apart with my fork and mixed them into this dish before eating. Turns out, that was a plus. The tilapia in this dinner is strong tasting. Eaten in chunks, it is a bit too fishy tasting, but broken up into pieces, it works very well with this dish. The Mediterranean sauce is strong, yummy and vinegar flavored. It does go well with the black olives bits in this dinner. You will not see whole black olives in this meal. But, their taste is present. The rice, squash and peppers give this dish gourmet flair. Overall, this a decent meal. Very filling, fun and hearty.
I rate Starkist Seasations Mediterranean Herb Tilapia Dinner three and one half stars out of five stars. You must love vinegar to enjoy this meal. I have to admit that I have never had a frozen fish dinner quite like this one. It is indeed unique. This meal has 290 calories in it. Only 60 of those calories come from fat. This dinner has 7 grams of total fat, just 1 gram of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 2 grams of polyunsaturated fat, 3.5 grams of monounsaturated fat, 20 mg's of cholesterol, 600 mg's of sodium, 300 mg's of potassium, 45 grams of total carbs, 3 grams of dietary fiber, yay, 2 grams of sugars and 13 grams of protein. This dish has small amounts of vitamins A, C, calcium and iron in it. This product does contain milk and fish ingredients.
I enjoyed trying Starkist Seasations Mediterranean Herb Tilapia Dinner and writing this product review about it. It is very affordable, easy to prepare and so different. This entree was brought to us by Chef Charlie of Starkist tuna fame. This frozen fish dinner is steam locked and cooked with the steam from your microwave. High quality rice and veggies are in this one. Worth a try, especially if on sale.
