Review: StarKist SeaSations Teriyaki Fish Fillets with Orange & Ginger
StarKist SeaSations Teriyaki Fish Offers Rich Flavor & Quality Fish Fillet
If the price makes you pause for a second, realize that these fillets are very high quality and come in convenient, individually wrapped cooking containers ready made for simple microwave cooking.
Preparation
StarKist SeaSations Teriyaki Fish is designed only for microwave cooking. The process is really simple. Just stick a fillet pouch on a microwave-safe plate, with the pouch's printed side up, and then start cooking for about 3-1/2 to 4 minutes in a 1000-watt microwave or 5 to 5-1/2 minutes in an 800 watt oven. Times vary if cooking 2 or more fillets.
DO NOT poke any holes in the pouch!
After the fillet has finished cooking, let it stand for about 2 minutes and then carefully open the pouch. I'll forewarn from personal experience that some of the sauce in the pouch drips out of the pouch's drip holes when maneuvering the package in your hands, so prepare for a few drips on the counter. Also, be careful not to let your hands or fingers get burned on the very hot fillet. Handling the pouch while cutting it open and emptying the fillet onto a plate can actually get a tad awkward.
Flavor
The StarKist SeaSations Teriyaki Fish raised the bar for me when it comes to eating frozen fish fillets. The fish is white and flaky, very luscious, and very tasty. The orange & ginger teriyaki glaze adds a nice, sweet dimension to this fish. The glaze does have a perceptible citrus overtone in the flavor, but overall you taste the teriyaki with strains of ginger perceptible. A great balance of flavors overall.
