Review of Starkist Sensations Orange Miso Tilapia Entree: Fun Frozen Dinner

Only 280 Calories

Bridgitte Williams

I am a longtime fan of many Starkist brand food products. Recently, I came across Starkist Sensations Orange Miso Tilapia Entree in the frozen dinners section of my favorite local Dollar Tree store. This one looked good and the price was right. I decided to buy it, try it and write a product review all about my personal experience with it. Here is what I discovered!

This is an Asian inspired meal. It has brown rice, red and green peppers, edamame beans, tilapia, miso paste, tomato paste, orange juice concentrate, garlic, sesame seeds and many other ingredients in it. I discovered that this meal is fiber rich, protein packed, low in saturated fat and low in calories. Wow! Lots of good stuff going on here. With steam locked cooking and low fat content, this one sounded very promising. I could not wait to taste it!

Starkist Sensations Orange Miso Tilapia Entree is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I prepared it. There is no venting or piercing required. I placed this meal in my microwave, cooked on high for six minutes, let stand for two minutes, uncovered, stirred and served. This dish smelled wonderful and looked fabulous! The fish is in large chunks. Very tender and moist. I broke up the fish with my fork and stirred into this dish. The brown rice is delicious, as are the veggies and orange sauce. The fish does have a strong taste, but if you break it up and distribute it through the dish, it helps. Overall, this meal is tasty, filling and hearty. Since I purchased it for only one dollar, I felt that I got my money's worth and more. I rate it three and one half stars out of five stars. If on sale, I would buy it again.

This dinner has 280 calories. Only 40 of those calories come from fat. It has 4 grams of total fat, just 1 gram of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 1.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat, 1.5 grams of monounsaturated fat, 20 mg's of cholesterol, 560 mg's of sodium, 410 mg's potassium, 45 grams of total carbs, 3 grams of dietary fiber, yay, 5 grams of sugars and 16 grams of protein. This dish has a decent amount of vitamin C in it, along with small amounts of iron, vitamin A and calcium. This product does contain fish, soybeans and wheat.

I enjoyed trying Starkist Sensations Orange Miso Tilapia Entree and writing a product review about it. What a creative and interesting Asian inspired meal. Tilapia fish lovers will enjoy trying this one. Remember Charlie the tuna, from Starkist fame? Well, this is a Chef Charlie creation. It is a winner, if you love fish.
