Review of "Start Cooking" Website

A review of the "Start Cooking" website may be the easiest and most natural review I have ever written. It's fun to review products or service that you have used successfully and repeatedly. Whether I am telling friends and relatives about "Start Cooking" website or sharing it with the larger on line audience the message is the same. The "Start Cooking" website is encouraging and helpful and something I am glad to endorse.

The basic idea behind "Start Cooking" is simply that there are lots of folk out there who are holding down a job, maybe trying to raise kids too or have already gone beyond that stage and are busy seniors who all share two things in common: they never really learned how to cook and they really would like some base line assistance in getting started. It's a simple concept but its underlying principle met me where I was. I always like to cook or at least I liked the results - being able to give good meals to my family. But I just never seemed to have the time to master the basic cooking skills needed.

With my kids on their own now, I find that I have plenty of time to learn a little basic cookery, but where to begin. I tried a bunch of cook books but honestly just couldn't seem to get a good fit. I needed something really basic. Then I discovered an on line website that seemed to be calling my name. It was called "Start Cooking" . Even though I am well beyond the normal age to actually "start" getting going in the kitchen, the title caught my eye. I really needed to do exactly that. I needed to approach cooking from a beginner's perspective and so began my relationship with the website "Start Cooking".

What I immediately loved about the website "Start Cooking" was that it wasn't just a list of directions. Don't get me wrong there were directions to refer to but there were videos that went along with the directions. I felt like the on screen cook was in my kitchen cooking and I was watching over her shoulder. Each step of the food preparation was clearly spelled out in words, vocalized by the presenter and then most effectively acted out and presented on video. I didn't have to wonder what basic cooking words like "fold" meant, I could watch the folding going on right in front of me. And if I didn't get it the first time all I had to do was replay the video.

Surprisingly enough this simple site offers a diversity of cooking experiences which go from the most basic to dishes that are more challenging. I found I could get useful advice about cooking basics like cooking pasta or boiling and egg but I could also venture into more substantial fare like chicken cutlets, scallops and shrimp scampi. There is something very supportive about being able to visualize each step of the preparation before trying it out yourself. Sometimes I cooked with the website visible so I could check what I was doing against the pcitures on line. Quite helpful I must admit.

Besides a complete set of cooking videos "Start Cooking" also has additional recipes for entrees that are not on video but do come with extensive from scratch type directions and reminders of how to do the most basic cooking functions. You can turn to "Baked Macaroni and Cheese " or "Chicken Marsala" with equal confidence and equally delicious results.

But honestly what is most endearing about "Start Cooking" besides the tasty results is the fact that I can turn to this site without feeling silly, stupid or useless around the kitchen. Those who take a chance on "Start Cooking" will most likely feel a lot like me, encouraged and welcome because this is a site for anybody and everybody who is ready and willing to just start cooking.
