Review of the Stone Castle Inn Hotel at Branson Missouri

Formerly the Settle Inn at Branson

We stayed at the Settle Inn, formerly Settle Inn, at Branson, Missouri during the first part of July. We got what we paid for. This consumer-generated review is based on our own experiences, with no endorsements or reward of any sort both in the past or in the future.

We decided to do a timeshare tour in order to get our Branson vacation for a cheaper price. The tour was a total nightmare, and we will never take another one again! But, as a part of the discount package, we were offered to stay at the Stone Castle / Settle Inn. This is how we became acquainted with the hotel.

The Stone Castle Inn at Branson looks like a castle. There are silver knights posting guard at the entrance. The exterior and interior have a medieval motif as well, including a "Sword in the Stone" display inside the main lobby. The paint outside in many places looks like gray stone walls. The separate hotel buildings are named after famous medieval names as well, such as the Camelot building, the Lancelot building, and so forth. There were some flags flying around and in front of the hotel as well.

The Stone Castle / Settle Inn has two swimming pools and hot tubs, each in a separate area of the hotel. These are indoor heated pools. The chlorine smell was a bit strong for my taste, but other than that the pools were well maintained and pleasant.

Our room was a "standard" room with two queen sized beds. I must say, the room itself was the smallest size room I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. For my family of four, which included two average sized adults and two children, the quarters were quite cramped. We felt as if we were staying in an ant farm. Nobody could walk in the room if anyone else were standing up. In other words, if someone planned to go to the restroom, we had to check to see that everyone was sitting down first, because there was no room to pass by someone, not even sideways. At least, to pass by them comfortably or without falling over.

The room in and of itself was nice. Everything looked new and worked. There was an ample supply of soaps and shampoo in the room. Fresh linens and towels were delivered daily. When we called to the front desk for extra pillows we were provided them in a polite and courteous manner. The air conditioning unit worked perfectly.

The Stone Castle / Settle Inn offers a free, hot breakfast to all hotel guests. This breakfast was very good. The meal was served in the conference room, buffet style, and included hot eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, make-it-yourself waffles, pancakes, donuts, cereal, milk, fresh fruit, breakfast pastries, coffee, three kinds of juice, and other items. The buffet was continuously replenished, and the kitchen staff made sure that everyone had plenty to eat before closing down. We made good use of this free buffet, and were more than pleased.

During breakfast at the Stone Castle / Settle Inn a free Branson-style show was performed. I must say, however, and in my opinion, the show left much to be desired. It included a man, standing on a stage, singing songs karaoke style. Although I am sure that he tried his best, the performance reminded me of a bad bar singer in a jazz lounge than the Branson quality music I had hoped to enjoy. What's more, the man was advertising his show out on the strip, inviting the hotel guests to come and pay $15 (which was a discount) to hear more of his bad singing!

During our whole visit, not once did we encounter any staff or crew who was unfriendly or impolite. In fact, I believe that our experiences with them were some of the best in the industry. Even the cleaning lady was cordial!

Aside from the small size of our standard room we were well pleased with our stay at the Stone Castle / Settle Inn. I believe that if we were to return, we would ask for a larger sized room, as the cramped quarters were not very pleasant. In addition, I believe that we would pay out of our own pockets rather than taking the room as a part of a timeshare tour.
