My wife and I recently decided it was time for "date night." We picked Strings as it is just a few hundred feet from our house and has been getting rave reviews for quite some time. So, we left the house and arrived at Strings on the corner of 17th and Humboldt a couple minutes later. A nice woman promptly seated us and our dining experience was underway.

The restaurant was only about half full on this Wednesday night. I enjoyed the ambiance right away. For Denver, it has a nice, upscale feel, yet is very comfortable and easy-going. The wait staff was impressive; they were very professional yet not too robotic or pretentiously formal about waiting on us. The Mrs. got a nice glass of wine while I chose their finest bottle of Coors (it was a Coors Light if you're curious).

We opted for the Oysters on the Half Shell for a starter. I know "starter" might sound like we were eating at Chili's, but that is what their menu said, not appetizer. They were delectable. Nice, flavorful, robust oysters from the Northeast. ¡Delicioso! No Triple Dipper Chicken Crispers at Strings. Good stuff.

So we're having a great time. Enjoying each other's company, the good food and nice atmosphere. Now for the entrees. I ordered the Shrimp Linguine and my wife got the Seared Sea Scallops. Wow! Amazing taste. The shrimp (and the scallops and oysters for that matter) were very fresh. Don't hesitate to order the seafood here. Outstanding! Great flavor and presentation. Our mouths exploded with excitement while we continued to be treated quite nicely by all of the Strings staff. The portions were perfect; I left not hungry nor feeling bloated from over-eating. I'm not a huge sweets guy and the Mrs. was full enough so we skipped dessert.

Just to take the edge off a bit, I had one more beer and my better half another glass of wine. We chatted some more and asked for the check. Couple drinks each, an appetizer (or starter) and two entrees ran us a bit under $100, tip included.

Strings is a great restaurant. All that it's cracked up to be. Check it out.
