Review of Super Pet Apple Orchard Sticks

Angel
I needed something for my hamsters to chew besides the bars of their cage and the toilet paper rolls I was giving them. I went to Pet Smart, and browsed over their selection of wood chews. When I saw the Super Pet Apple Orchard Sticks, I thought it was a good idea. I never once thought of giving my hamsters twigs, and that's what these basically were, twigs from an apple tree.

When I got the apple orchard sticks home, my hamsters were very pleased. All of the hamsters were eating the twigs. I was pleased, that is until cage cleaning day. Upon cage cleaning day I always hold my hamsters, love on them, treat them, and check them out. I want to make sure their cancer spots aren't growing, and check to see if there are any new marks. Well I noticed on several of my hamsters feet, scabs. I couldn't understand or figure out how my hamster's feet could end up getting as badly, and deeply cut. All my hamsters have their own cages, so it's not as though their brother's or sister's beat them up.

After putting their cages together, filling the water bottle, my eye caught the new Super Pet Apple Orchard Sticks. I picked a few up to examine them, and discovered EXTREMELY sharp edges on them. I quickly went over to the packaging to see if there was any side notes, tips, or warnings about these really sharp edges. There is nothing on the package anywhere containing a warning about this. Had I know there were such sharp edges I would have never given them to my hamsters, let alone purchased it. I figured since it was from Super Pet, it had to be good. Added to that, it says on the top part of the KA_BOB family of fun.

I would like to warn everyone. If you have a hamster, do not buy Super Pet Apple Orchard Sticks! And, if by chance you purchased these Super Pet Apple Orchard Sticks, be sure to check the twigs out to see if there are any sharp edges.

I rate this product a zero! I will never purchase it again. I had only paid about two dollars for them, but that's two dollars, I would have rather put on something safer for my pets. I hope none of your pets have been hurt like mine have. I would have never thought I'd have to check out all the chew toys I get for my hamsters. But now, I'm not willing to risk this happening again. It would be different if they could talk, or it happened while I was in the room, and could hear the pet scream.
