This can be an advantage or a disadvantage for both sides. First of all, the fans have an advantage because they know from watching the previous seasons what the strengths and weaknesses of each player on the favorites team are.
However, the favorites have the advantage of experience because they have done it all before. They already know how to play the game the best and how to survive and adapt better. When the favorites got to their camp, they immediately knew how to make a good shelter and how to find lots of food to eat. The fans, on the other hand, had a very inadequate shelter and no food at all.
When it came to their first challenge though, the fans proved that they were in it to win it by winning immunity! They were way ahead of the favorites through most of the the challenge and the favorites seemed to drag their way through compared to how fast the fans were going! I, personally, am rooting for the fans. There are a couple of people from the favorites side that I did like, Yauman and James, but other than that I didn't like the other players from their seasons.
I especially am happy that Johnny Fairplay left the first episode. I could not stand him when he was on his season and I still cannot stand him. I had a really hard time believing that he wanted to go home because of his pregnant girlfriend and unborn child. He is a liar and a scam artist and I wouldn't believe a single word that comes out of that man's mouth!
Likewise, the other favorites are being really predictable and acting exactly the same as they acted on their original season. For example, Parvati is already flirting relentlessly like she did on her season. I was not surprised by that at all.
I do think though that the fans will surprise the favorites. The favorites seem to have an ego and think that they can stomp on the fans and they will have no problem winning. The first challenge gave them a reality check I think. They still have too much confidence though and I don't think that will ever get better.
The new season of Survivor should prove to be exciting and interesting! I guess we'll all just have to watch and see!
