Review of Sushi Alive in Tampa, Florida

Sarah Monroy
One night my friend and I got a craving for sushi, so we headed over to Sushi Alive. Sushi Alive is located in the Carrollwood area of Tampa, Florida, in a shopping center a mile north of Bearss.

We went on a Friday night with no reservations, so it took around twenty minutes for us to be seated. However, waiting was not unpleasant, as they had many comfortable chairs and couches for their patrons to sit in as they waited for a table to be available. As we waited, we noticed the unique and beautiful décor adorning the walls and ceilings of the restaurant. Beautiful Japanese art was everywhere, and our favorite pieces were the parasols on the ceiling. The lighting also set a very pleasant mood - each table was individually lit by small lights, and made dining more intimate. Even though where we sat, one side of the table was a booth connected along the wall to other tables, it did not feel as of we were sharing our table with everyone else sitting on that side of the restaurant.

We were seated and looked at the menu, which was extensive and had a good amount of options. The waitress was a little nonchalant about everything, but it was probably because the restaurant was pretty crowded while we were there. We ordered two sushi rolls, one of which was the rainbow roll, but I cannot remember the other roll we ordered. Before our sushi rolls came, we also ordered sticky rice, which was very good. The sushi was the best part. It tasted fresh and we each shared the two rolls combined with the one order of rice was plenty for both of us. The dinner was filling and very satisfying, very delicious Japanese cuisine.

The price was satisfying as well, as our while dinner only cost us around $10 each, which we found very reasonable. There are not many places you can go to eat on a Friday night and have a very nice dining experience for only ten dollars, especially in Tampa.

Overall, the restaurant was very pleasant, but the service was lacking a little. It is understandable as to why it was, it was very crowded that night, but if you are going to eat there, you should probably keep that in mind if you have somewhere to go afterwards and you don't want to be late to it. Of course, you could avoid that by making reservations. If you want a good, reasonably-priced sushi restaurant in Tampa, Sushi Alive is a great choice.
