Review of the Target Store in Jackson, Mississippi

Amy Cox
Target is one of the few chain retail stores a person can shop at without being teased. Sentences like, "I'm going to run to Target" are not greeted with the same smirk as "I bought these jeans from Wal-Mart. Do you like them?" Target is considered to be more of an upscale retailer than many other chains, even though the prices are usually modest. Also, it is not nearly as crowded as other retailers, making the shopping experience much more enjoyable. A trip to Target consists of going in, getting what you want, and making it through the checkout without waiting in a line long enough that one could get pregnant and deliver the baby all in one standing.

In Jackson, Mississippi, the Target off of I-55 and County Line Road is my favorite place to shop. The store is off of the path just enough to make it less crowded than most stores. The staff is friendly and fast, and the layout of the store makes it easy to use.

The first thing I do when I go to Target is go to the clearance racks at the front of the store. Target's clearance aisles offer a lot of great bargains, many of which are priced around a dollar or two. I usually load my cart up with items from the clearance section. There are usually a wide variety of dishes and dog toys in the clearance section, along with different odds and ends. I can always find something worth buying in the clearance section.

The next place a shopper should visit while at Target is the section with the books and magazines. Target always stocks bestsellers, often at a fraction of the price. Books can be much cheaper at Target than they are at major bookstores, and a shopper does not have to deal with the same crowds that mill around bookstores. Oftentimes, I can find two or three books that I would like to add to my collection while shopping at Target.

Music lovers should stop by the CD shelves at Target and look for deals. New releases come out at $9.99 for the first week, making Target competitive with online download sites. For people who do not like to download music online, I would recommend going to Target and taking advantage of the deals. Also, a lot of older CDs are sold for a fraction of the price.

Sunglasses are another thing that draws me to Target. While there are a lot of different places one can buy sunglasses, it is hard to find stores that have sunglasses that both look good and are relatively inexpensive. At Target, a shopper can find a pair of good looking sunglasses for under $20. That is a great deal.

After shoppers have visited the clearance, books, CDs, and sunglasses, it is time to go to the checkout. If possible, go to the express lane, as it is almost always a fast way to pay for your items. There is rarely even a wait at all at the express lane. Most times I simply lay my items up on the counter and I pay right away.

Shopping at Target is a painless experience. The service is fast and friendly, and the lines are small, if there is a line at all. I can always find something that I want at Target, and I have a great experience each time I go.
