The Tarte Lock and Roll Creaseless Eye Shadow Duo comes in a dual sided slim tube. One end holds a creamy eye shadow that has a brush applicator that looks like a nail polish brush. The other end holds a loose powder that is applied with a roll on applicator.
The Rose Gold shade that I bought reminded me of a champagne colored eye shadow that I used a long time ago. I first tried on the Rose Gold color on my hand when I was at Sephora and it really looked like rose gold, or a light coppery gold shade.
But when I used the Lock and Roll on my eyelids when I got home the color looked a little lighter. My skin is golden brown so the Rose Gold color looked more like a light champagne shade. The cream looks brighter and more intense than the powder which is light and shimmery.
The Tarte Lock and Roll Creaseless Eye Shadow, really doesn't cause the shadow to crease, but it does make it really easy to apply eye shadow. It took me about five seconds to apply the powder shadow before work one morning with this stuff.
And the cream's brush makes it super easy to apply as a shadow or as an eye liner. I was able to line my upper lash line. Then I added a little shimmer in the inner corner of my eyes which really brightened them, so I was really excited about that. When I used the cream as an eye shadow the color looked very bright and intense so I would only use it at night if I was going to a club, but I liked that it dries really fast.
Overall I really liked the Tarte Lock and Roll, I think it's so convenient to carry. Not only does it make it easy to put on eye shadow in the morning, but it makes it convenient to touch up your eyes throughout the day. It's also versatile, because if you used the loose powder on your eyes for work and then you want to go out later all you need to do is flip it over and use the cream shadow for a more intense look.
I did like the Rose Gold color as a shimmer on the inner corner of my eyes, but I think the Rose Gold shade is too light for me and it makes me look ashy. And although this eye shadow duo doesn't crease, both the cream and loose powder start to wear off after a few hours. I would buy it again in another color though I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
