Taste of Italy is a new Italian restaurant that has recently opened in Mineola, Texas. It is in the old Beckham Hotel downtown at 502 W. Broad.
My family and I visited Taste of Italy a few weeks ago and were very pleased. The menu had a wide variety and selection, and the prices were very affordable. The portions were very huge, no lie! My son and I shared a calzone, and it covered the whole plate. It was enough for two, that is for sure. I ordered the child's spaghetti for my older son and he had leftovers and was able to share with his little brother. It was plenty of food!
One also interesting note is they had karaoke. While we were there they had locals singing and it sounded pretty good. They also had a waiter who got up and sang a few songs. So, if you are into singing karaoke this is just one more reason to go and try Taste of Italy.
The atmosphere was very friendly. The wait staff was constantly on the go and was there to give you whatever you needed. That night we also talked to the chef, who actually sounded Italian!
The restaurant isn't very spacious but has enough room to feed plenty. There is a smaller eating area in the front and then they have a more spacious area toward the back. The place is nicely decorated. For payment they take most credit cards and cash. Of course, this is pretty much the norm at most restaurants.
It is nice to have a good place to go eat Italian food that is local and convenient and a place where you don't have to drive out of town or pay big bucks. This is also a great place for friends to go have lunch. You can probably split a menu item and save some money and have a good time visiting too. It is good when you can give your hard earned money back to your town by eating at a local restaurant.
I give Taste of Italy in Mineola, Texas, a thumbs up! I encourage everyone to try it at least once and see for yourself. Mineola is a fairly small town with very minimal restaurant choices. This town has two Chinese restaurants and three Mexican restaurants. So as you can see, Italian is greatly appreciated!
