This book is designed for a parent/child one on one, however it can be utilized in the classroom as well. Working in a home schooling world we have found great improvements from children that were struggling with reading whether they just weren't interested in the material or because the way it was explained to them wasn't clear. This could easily lead to frustration between the child and the parent, making it a dreaded experience pulling out the lessons.
With "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons" it can be a fun and rewarding experience for all involved. This program takes only 20 minutes a day with remarkable step-by-step instructions.
For example: Lesson 1 emphasizes on sounds. First they introduce a letter like m and only m for the time being. The sound is then introduced. There is a large dot on the page followed by a line that is about 1 1/2 inches long and over the line is the letter m. The parent places their finger on the large dot and slides there finger down the line until the end while saying the sound mmmmmmmmm. After that they have the child repeat the sound while the parent moves there finger from the dot to the end of the line. This task is repeated over and over but the trace on the line moves faster causing the child to say it faster.
After the sound is established and familiar a word is introduced with that certain letter. For instance the word am. It's said slowly with lasting sound so that the child can identify the place of the m.
The next introduction would be the vowels. The vowels are identified by symbols indicating how they would sound. When they've said it, pointed to it, and identified it it will be placed with one of the consonants that they have learned. For example, the word "me". They have already learned what the "m" sound is. So if they learned the long form of "e" which was identified with a line over the top as the vowel they will automatically know that the "m" sound is mmmmmm and the "e" sound is eeeeeeeee. The parent says it slowly with the same finger on the dot and follow the line with their finger, pausing between the m and the e briefly so that the child can identify with the sounds and the letter.
The lessons in the book continue at an easy to learn, easy to understand pace for you and your child. I would definitely recommend this book to any parent or teacher who is having difficulties teaching a child to read. A parent of one of our children at the school suggested this book and now we wish we would have found it sooner. It has helped tremendously and has made our students readers.
It is a proven fact that early readers hold a better advantage over their peers throughout school and with over crowded classrooms it's not very hard for a child to be lost in the shuffle and lose out on some very valuable instruction. One on one with your child will help him or her thrive in learning and help them to become more successful and confident.
